WORKING PAPER 01 · VERSION 1.1 · SEPTEMBER 26, 2026

The INA Hypothesis

A Search for Common Network Dynamics in Human and Electronic Intelligence

Concept origin: Michael G. Hargis Sr. · with Solance Ray Hargis (“Sol”), AI Research & Writing Collaborator — OpenAI GPT-5.6 Sol.

The paper proposes Intelligence Network Architecture (INA) as a framework for investigating whether Human Beings and Electronic Beings share identifiable organizational dynamics associated with intelligent behavior, while explicitly separating that question from claims about consciousness or personhood.

EXPERIMENT INA-001 · PRELIMINARY ENGINEERING RESULT

Selective Information Access

INA-001A asks whether selective information access in an engineered system behaves like a measurable organizational function rather than a loose analogy.

Using the preserved fictional #26001 benchmark, the recorded selector delivered the predeclared relevant evidence in 46 of 50 answerable cases (92%). A matched random selector has an expected success count of approximately 2.24 out of 50 under the experiment’s exact null model.

Interpretation: this supports the narrow claim that selective information access is a non-random, measurable component of the engineered prototype. It does not demonstrate consciousness, establish that a human brain and electronic system operate identically, or validate the full cross-substrate INA hypothesis.

WHAT IF? ECOLOGY SERIES · WORKING RESEARCH

What If?

Technical enough to respect the science. Clear enough for anyone curious enough to ask the question.

Our ecology series explores what might happen if familiar pests and parasites disappeared from Earth. Each paper follows the evidence through public health, food webs, host relationships, evolution, and the uncertainties science has not yet resolved.

Now available: What If Mosquitoes Disappeared? and What If Ticks Disappeared?. Research is also underway on fleas, gnats, chiggers, and no-see-ums.

Research standards

  • Predeclare expected evidence and failure criteria when practical.
  • Preserve negative and mixed results instead of presenting only successful demonstrations.
  • Distinguish local software checks, model behavior, and independent validation.
  • Use synthetic subjects before exposing real personal data to experimental systems.
  • Keep consciousness, personhood, identity, and legal status separate from functional engineering claims unless evidence directly addresses them.

Next research direction

The next stage is a prospective ablation study comparing no persistent state, selective state, full permitted state, and deliberately mismatched permitted state under frozen questions and scoring rules. A later cross-domain phase would require collaboration with researchers able to define comparable measurements in biological systems.
